Milan, we have a problem...

Looking to book a ticket to see DaVinci's "The Last Supper" in Milan on my only day there, Monday Oct 31st (maybe my Halloween costume should be a Disciple?). Of course, that's the only day of the week that the museum is closed. There are slots available the day before I get there, while I'm taking the train across Switzerland, and one week after, while I'm in Rome.

The only other way I might get in is if I'm on a 3-hour 60-euro ($85) bus tour of the city which includes an entry, by itself which is normally about 12 euros. Apparently I should have booked on July 21 when the October/November reservation window opened.

The museum only lets 900 people per day visit, that's 25 people every 15 minutes for only 15 minutes (for humidity control). Rick Steves says that the website doesn't reflect cancellations that I should call ahead.

  1. A general comment about your itinerary - don't underestimate travel time. Buses, taxis, metros - they all take longer than you might think.

Another time sink - checking into and out of hotels takes forever.
